DETECTIVE SWAN STORY: Within Traxler City there lay a small but self-contained district known as the Shalamar. It was a squalid and desolate area where drugs and violence ruled. It was becoming apparent to the police that despite their best efforts they could not eradicate the problems that the drugs and violence caused. And even their attempts to take down the wealthy but dictatorial crime boss known as the "Skull" who ruled with an iron hand. There was one dedicated and persistent detective, Jonas Swan who would not give up the fight. The newspapers of Traxler City were promoting a big fight match that was to include two well known boxers who had both grown up in the Shalamar district and a famous writer, Jonas Queen was to cover it. The newspapers had given Queen as much publicity that anyone and everyone in Traxler City knew of his arrival. But unknown was the fact that Jonas Queen had already been in the city quite some time doing an investigative piece on the Shalamar district. The match was over within two rounds. The crowd let out after 7;20 pm. Later, about 9;30 pm Jonas Queen received a letter. The letter from a man named "Zetor". Jonas thought it was a joke that this Zetor had threatened to kill him, but at that very moment, across from from his hotel window in an old building, stood a man with a high powered rifle aiming at Queen's head. Queen looked to the envelope which had a skull drawn on it. This was the "terror mark". Why the man named Zetor wanted to end the writer Jonas Queen's life became apparent when he saw the skull marking on the envelope. Queen realized he was in danger and stepped away from the window but it was too late. The zooming bullet crashed through the window and implanted itself in the skull of Jonas Queen. Zetor grinned and quickly dismantled his rifle. Zetor had gotten what he had come for. He knew that Queen had seen the skull and then realized how much he was in danger. An hour later Detective Victor Swan and his assistant Bennett Johnson were on the case trying to put the story into place. It was a cold and windy night as the policemen carried the bloody mess that was once Jonas Queen. Swan was sitting on the sofa reading the letter now. He noticed the skull on the bottom of the envelope. He stared in deep concentration. Bennett was looking around and saw the hole in the window. He opened it and leaned out. He then lost his balance and fell out. He had luckily grabbed hold of the curtain and hung on for dear life. He yelled and yelled until Swan came to the window. "What are you doing?" Said Swan. "Feeding the birds" Said Bennett. Swan grabbed hold of the curtain and began pulling the petrified Bennett to sturdy ground again. Swan glanced across to the old crumbling building and saw a masked man aiming a high powered rifle at him. Swan knew it was the killer of Jonas Queen, Zetor! Swan was shocked so badly that he was unable to move. Suddenly, Bennett jerked the curtain and made Swan fall from the window. It seemed that had saved Zetor some work. Swan was such a powerful man that he grabbed hold of a flag pole which stuck out from the side of the hotel building. Bennett grabbed hold of the curtain which was still in one of Swan's big hands. Swan suddenly started to swing back and forth. He then let go an in an acrobatic move managed to reach a window at the other building which had a killer on the roof. Once inside the window, Swan pulled a pistol from his belt and ran from the room. He tried to get on the elevator but it was packed so he ran down the hall and went up the stairs. The stairs like the entire building itself was crumbling an old. Swan could barely make it up the stairs. When he finally reached the roof, Zetor turned and began firing at Swan. But he still managed to dodge the deadly metal objects. Zetor would not leave until he had scored a hit. Victor Swan fired back at Zetor wildly, missing him. Zetor's bullets came closer with more accuracy as Victor was forced to escape narrowly each time. Both of their weapons were being emptied and quickly. Victor moved from one position to the other while Zetor stayed in his spot. Police Commissioner Dennis Green answered the ringing phone and was informed of a shootout at the abandoned building across the street from the hotel. Commissioner Green cursed under his breat, "Swan"
